The airport is located in in Cape May County adjacent to the marshes of the Great Egg Harbor Bay around 2 miles SW of downtown Ocean City in Southern New Jersey.

Officially known as Clarke Field named after a former naval commander, the airport was built in 1935 and remains open to the public, and serves the surrounding communities including the Strathmere and Marmora sections of Upper Township and Somers Point in Egg Harbor Township.
