The aircraft that suits a trip to or from Atlantic City depends on four things: how far you are going, how many people are traveling, how much baggage is coming, and which airport suits each end of the trip. Four friends coming down from Boston for a weekend and a family of twelve flying home to Palm Beach at the end of the summer need very different aircraft, and the difference shows up in the quote.
Below are the categories we work with. When we send options, your advisor will explain why each one fits.
Passenger charter
- Piston aircraft for short regional flights with one or two passengers
- Turboprops for the Northeast and the mid-Atlantic with a small group
- Very Light Jets for two to four people on a regional trip, such as Boston, Toronto or Charlotte
- Light jets and super light jets for Florida, Chicago, Atlanta and the Bahamas
- Midsize jets for Texas, Denver and the Caribbean
- Super midsize jets for Las Vegas and the West Coast in one leg
- Heavy jets and long-range jets for larger groups, coast-to-coast trips and Europe
- VIP airliners for groups that outgrow a heavy jet
- Helicopters, where the route and conditions suit one

Which category fits your trip
Distance decides a lot. From Atlantic City, Teterboro is about 90 nautical miles away, Boston about 240, Chicago about 615, Palm Beach about 815, Nassau about 880 and Las Vegas about 1,900, while London is just over 3,000. A light jet covers Florida, the Bahamas and most of the eastern half of the country, Denver and the Caribbean suit a midsize jet or larger, Las Vegas and the West Coast call for a super midsize jet, and Europe calls for a long-range jet.
Groups flying in for a convention or a long weekend, and families moving down to the Shore for the summer, often travel with a lot of luggage, so tell us the passenger count and the baggage at the start. Both decide the aircraft as much as the distance does.
The airport matters too. Most private trips to Atlantic City use Atlantic City International (ACY) in Egg Harbor Township, about ten miles northwest of the Boardwalk. For Cape May and the shore towns farther south, Cape May County Airport near Wildwood takes smaller jets and turboprops, and Philadelphia is about 40 nautical miles away if it suits the rest of your plans. The runway an aircraft needs is calculated by the operator for that day’s conditions, and we confirm it with the operator for your trip.
Cargo and medical
- Air cargo charter when a shipment needs its own aircraft, whether it is urgent equipment or a full load
- Medical and air ambulance flights for patients who need medical support on board
How we choose an operator
Whichever category you end up in, the operator behind the aircraft goes through our internal due diligence before we present it. We confirm operator certification, review the operator’s safety and incident history, and confirm pilot experience and currency on the specific aircraft type. Where the operator takes part in a Wyvern or ARGUS program, we use those audits as well. Our safety page explains each step.
